JO/GA HOMES
La Corte in Miami Beach

A few homes at a time, each one built as if it were our own.

We are Gaia Sonzogni and Jorge Campodonico. We develop single-family homes in Miami Beach, and we hold each one to the standard of a custom commission.

How we work

  1. We begin with the site.

Before any drawing, we spend time on the lot. We study the light through the day, the breeze, the orientation, the trees and the neighbors, and how the house can stay private. The plan answers what the site tells us, not the other way around.

  2. We design the home as one piece.

Architecture, interiors and landscape are drawn together, by one studio, from the first sketch. The kitchen, the millwork, the lighting and the garden are decided with the structure, not added later, so every room belongs to the same idea.

  3. We check the work as it is built.

Every home is built to a written Construction Standards Manual. We inspect at milestones and before anything is covered, and correct what falls short before the next trade starts. Finishes are approved on mockups, and Gaia and Jorge walk the site, often every day.

  4. Designed for a long life.

We draw on research into the places where people live longest, including the Blue Zones studies, and on the idea that daily needs should be within easy reach. Rooms are placed to invite movement, daylight and time together, so the house supports an easy routine.

  5. Made in Italy, where it matters.

Our kitchens and millwork are designed by us and made by Italian craftsmen, then shipped and installed on site. Dimensions are measured in the finished house before anything is made, so each piece is built to fit the home it belongs to.

  6. Every home gets its own book.

From the first sketch to the materials and how to care for them, each home is documented in a book of its own. Its story and its details stay with the home.

Our homes

Four homes, one thread. Il filo conduttore is the same way of working, applied with intention to a different site, size and material. Two are finished and lived in by their owners: La Corte and PH 11:11. Two are under way: La Marina and La Gemma.
